Personal History Rene was born on October 1st, 1992 to Pierre and Gabrielle Rouen in the city of Paris, France. Rene grew up in a devote Roman Catholic home which instilled a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He holds a strong faith in God and believes in the tenants of Christian charity.

His father, Pierre, was the senior instructor at Salle D'armes Coudurier, the oldest fencing academy in the city. Pierre taught Rene not only the art of swordsmanship, but also the craft of swordsmithing, from a young age. He was allowed to compete in fencing tournaments when he was old enough and won regional championships the last two years. He placed fifth in nationals this last summer.

His mother, Gabrielle, was a music professor at IMEP College of Music. She taught Rene a love for the arts, especially music and Rene took guitar lessons all throughout middle school and high school. Though not of the caliber to become a professional musician, he is content being good enough in entertaining family and friends.

Rene traveled a lot throughout Europe in his teens to attend fencing tournaments either he or his father competed in. He learned English and German fluently and has some proficiency in Italian and Spanish.

Rene longed to travel to the United States and applied for a student exchange program. He was accepted in the Spring of 2010 to attend high school in the States as a senior. He promised his parents and sister to write every week once he settled in with his host family.

Rene arrived in the states on August 11th and met his host family. He spent a few days acclimating to his new surroundings and preparing for school. The news of the global pandemic broke out about the week after school started and Rene found himself unable to contact his family, much less obtain a way home.

Rene was a stranger in a strange land, with just his wits, skills and the kindness of strangers to survive.
