Personal History | Carmen Harris, 8th grader, wants to be an actor in L.A, gets good grades. Enjoys dancing and shopping with her friends. Plays field hockey, as she didn't like baseball. Is the organiser of the family. She likes lists and keeping track of things. She has a diary she carries everywhere. The second born of three, and lone girl, Carmen grew up in a warm and loving family. She adored her older brother Jack, cheering him on at his baseball games. On the 3rd of March of 2000, her little brother, Myles, was born. The end of the pregnancy had been difficult on their mother, and Myles had been delivered ten weeks early. As he was taken to the neonatal ICU, Jack and Carmen couldn't see him, until he was settled and out of any immediate danger. They would look at him through the plexiglass lid of his incubator, as he worked hard to put on healthy weight. Carmen, was only 3 when Myles was born, so she was not fully aware of why her baby brother was in the incubator but as she grew up she learned and followed Jake's lead in protecting and caring for Myles. As the trio continued to grow, they became strong together. Jack was always the guardian of the other two, with Carmen being the leader and Myles simply tagging along behind, always serving to be the most fearless of the three of them. While the boys played baseball, Carmen went into field hockey as the lead midfielder for her team from the age of 8. Even with her passion for hockey, she joined the local drama society when she was 10, and performed in local theatre productions. Being a child performer she revealed in the versatility of playing either a boy or a girl in various productions. But then, the world started to change. A week into her 8th year of school , the CDC, and it's counterpart organizations around the world, suddenly declared a world-wide pandemic. Everyone was ordered, for their safety, to go home and shelter in place. On the news, reports of some kind of new disease spreading like wildfire, with no apparent treatment or cure. Everyone who was healthy, was ordered to segregate anyone who was sick or injured. Jack kept Carmen and Myles home from school when their parents were called to work. With their Golden Retriever Daisy they sheltered in place until the day Carmen began to plan for them to escape their suburban family home.
