Winter's hope

Roman walked around the camp, careful not to make any loud noise. There were walkers in close proximity to the camp and while not directly threatening it they were close enough to make the camp residents uneasy. As he walked, he saw Thea and she seemed to be upset which wasn't good as far along as she was in her pregnancy.
"Thea?" He asked as he got close. "Is everything alright?" He asked in his best bedside manner.
Thea was doing her best not to panic, but her mind was firmly on the threat the dead posed to her baby. She would protect her baby no matter what, her train of thought broken as Roman spoke to her, “I’m...I’m sorry” she gave him a nervous smile. “I was just...the walkers...” she motioned outside.
"No need to apologize Thea. I know the undead being so close is a bit stressing Talking about it will help you relieve stress and that will help you and your baby. Now, I know this is easier said than done but try and relax." Roman replied in a hopeful tone.
"I wish I could relax, I know stress isn't good for my son but those... things out there terrify me!" Thea gave Roman a fearful look.
"I know and it is hard not to think about them, so I won't tell you not to. That would be unrealistic. However, I would suggest you not dwell on it and find some other things to keep you occupied." Roman offered.
“Such as?” Thea gave Roman a curious look. “Right now I’m concentrating on self preservation, that’s what is most important right now.”
Roman chuckled softly at Thea's question. "And self-preservation is most important, right at the top of the list ." He agreed. "However, you could try, thinking of boy names or perhaps, if you quilt you could make him a quilt once we are somewhere safer. Finally, you can just talk to someone, don't keep the stress bottled up."
“I’m talking to you aren’t I?” Thea gave Roman a snappy answer before offering an apologetic glance. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you.”
Roman nodded and smiled at Thea, "Yes, you are certainly talking Thea and no need to apologize. The current situation is stressful for all of us and venting is an excellent way to relieve stress. So, please vent away."
Thea offered a more relaxed smile, it was good to have someone to talk to instead of sitting worrying about what was going on outside.
Roman smiled. "You have a beautiful smile Thea, you should smile more even in a situation like this. It will help your stress level as well and I am always available to talk with you."
“You’re Vienna’s brother right?” Thea offered a smile. “I’m sorry about your parents, from what I heard about what happened Vienna took it pretty hard. It’s good she has you to look out for her.”
Roman nodded, "Yes, Vienna is my sister and thank you about our parents. She did take it hard, but she is handling it better. She's tough. I'll always look out for her and you along with the others here. If we want to make it we all need to look out for each other."
Thea nodded. “It worries me that once my son is born it’ll put others at risk, simply because they’ll feel they have to protect us. Plus you can’t keep a baby quiet.”
Roman shook his head, "You shouldn't feel like that Thea. This group is like the musketeers, all for one and one for all. We, will make this work." He assured her.
Thea nodded. “Thank you Roman, I know I shouldn’t question the generosity everyone has shown taking me in, it just concerns me that’s all.”
"You have every right to be concerned Thea. we are all concerned. You just concern yourself with your baby's health and yours." Roman replied smiling.
Thea nodded. “Don’t worry, I won’t let any harm come to my baby.”
"I know you won't." Roman assured her. "I'll help you all I can or all that you allow me to in that endeavor." He added.
“That’s very kind of you” Thea offered the best smile she could muster.
"I'm a kind guy." Roman bantered back. "Just ask Vienna. Oh, on second thought don't ask." He laughed and it felt good.
“I guess she’d have some stories about you huh?” Thea grinned feeling more relaxed. “Though I bet you’d have some stories about Vienna too.”
Roman chuckled and nodded, "Oh, I do. I think any brother and sister who are close do and despite our age difference Vienna and I are close." He paused for a moment, "Um, I don't like you being alone. I want you to consider yourself part of the Quinn family."
Thea gave Roman a surprised look. “Part of your family? That’s very kind of you, but you barely know anything about me Roman.”
Roman nodded. "I know you are a good woman who is concerned about her baby. A woman who cares about others and who is willing to help those who need it." He paused for a beat. "I'd like to get to know you better Thea."
Thea nodded. “I guess I…” she paused. “I’d like that, to have a family in this changing world is more important than ever.”
Roman smiled and took Thea's hand in his and squeezed it softly. "You have a family now and you never will be alone again. I promise."
