Posted on Sun Jul 28th, 2024 @ 1:10pm by in Sim Announcement

Hello, Survivors!

Thanks to the efforts of Ray (who writes for Alonzo Blazevic), we have a new and improved manifest that better fits the needs of our particular sim.

We're organized by families and those who are single are listed under 'The Unattached'. If your situation changes and you become part of someone's family, then we'll switch you around.

Suffixes:
========
Military designations are no longer going to be shown on the manifest and you'll see that they've been removed for you -- we're doing that for two reasons. One, it's no longer a part of our reality and two,…

Congratulations, Survivors!

We started our first episode, Bangor or Bust, Saturday, 15 April 2023. Tomorrow, nearly a year later, we will finally finish it. For those who like stats, we have, as a group, written 332 posts for this episode, 34 of them in the past month. And now, nearly a year later, its time to move on. There will be a short post tomorrow explaining what happens to the safe zone and after that, Bangor or Bust will be closed for posting and we'll be moving into the new episode (I'm thinking about "Winter is Coming" as a title).…

Hello, Survivors,

Been having a couple days of good weather here, sort of like the first promise of Spring, and its been lovely. Also, Watson, my cat, discovered Cat TV (its a YouTube channel) and he loves it. For a cat who absolutely refuses to go anywhere near the outside world, he's been mighty brave swatting at those birds.

Sim Statistics

No changes in the number of writers this month so we're still holding at eight. We are losing a couple of NPCs though -- Courtney, Jordan, Father Dominic I believe. Not sure about Bao (been quiet since the delivery)…

Hello, Survivors,

Okay, its been an embarrassingly long time since I've done this so, let me start by offering my profound apologies. Had a bit of a Star Trek sim burnout going on and a lot of things fell by the wayside. Things are better now and I'm totally back.

Sim Statistics

We added two survivors, Stephen Wolff and Reuben Baptiste. That brought us up to nine writers. Course, Stephen dropped out again so we have added one new writer -- which means two service dogs and three military personnel. The world has never seemed safer, eh?

You know, we…

Mission: Winter's hope
Posted on Wed Aug 6th, 2025 @ 10:39pm by Survivor Harley Bell

Malik
The bass thumped through the floor of the VIP box, a low rumble that vibrated pleasantly in Malik’s chest, blending with the roar of the Lambeau Field crowd. He leaned back into the plush leather, one long leg crossed over the other, a half-smile playing on his full lips. His grey-green eyes, sharp and intelligent, were currently tracking the blur of green and white on the field. Thirty-two years old, at the top of his game, and currently enjoying a damn good view of America’s sport. Life was good. This was a pit stop, a rare moment of downtime…

Mission: Winter's hope
Posted on Fri Aug 1st, 2025 @ 12:34am by Survivor Harley Bell

Matt
The smell of bratwurst and spilled beer hung heavy in the humid August air of Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Matt, a stocky man in a faded Packers jersey, leaned over the railing of his row, his face slick with sweat, his eyes bloodshot. He’d been feeling like crap since noon – a cough he couldn’t shake, a headache that pounded behind his eyes, and a nauseous churn in his gut. His wife, Sarah, sat beside him, meticulously wiping down her seat.

“You’re just trying to ruin this for me, aren’t you, Sarah?” Matt rasped, his voice rough.…

Mission: Steven's Point
Posted on Wed Jul 16th, 2025 @ 2:49pm by Leader Victor Rourke

The wind howled outside like a starving animal, rattling loose shutters somewhere down the corridor. The generator kicked once and then settled into its low, mechanical growl. The city slept. Or tried to.

Colonel Victor Rourke sat alone in his quarters, a half-empty glass of bourbon resting on the table beside him. He wasn’t drunk. He never got drunk. Just warm enough to dull the edges of memory. Just enough to pretend he didn’t see their faces when he closed his eyes.

His quarters were sparse: a bed he rarely used, a battered wooden desk, a wall-mounted map of Steven’s…

Mission: Safe Harbor
Posted on Mon Jul 14th, 2025 @ 1:56pm by New York Survivor Amythyst & New York Survivor Briar Maddox

Amy studied the trees Briar had brought back and directed them to be placed in the barn and for the root bowls to be watered with water from the well.

She then sent Meredith to the house to get the book she had found under the couch earlier. It was a survival book. Meredith brought it back and Amy flipped through the book slowly.

Mission: Escape from the Concrete Grave
Posted on Mon Jul 14th, 2025 @ 1:52pm by Survivor Roxy Santiago & Leader Connor McLean

As they slowly made their way deeper into the estate, Connor pointed out landmarks to Roxy. "That's the tennis court, over there's the swimming pool and cabana. The rear grounds utility shed is over there, behind those birch trees. Up ahead is the rear gardens and my home."

As he spoke, the large mansion started to cone into view. It was enormous, built of stone from quarries around the world. There were three floors, containing dozens of different rooms. As they approached, they saw that no lights were on, and no movement was readily apparent.

"How many people are here…

Evening

I’m writing this by flashlight, tucked up in the attic room of the farmhouse, where the roof creaks when the wind shifts. The others are asleep — or pretending to be. I think Patrick is still whispering with Andrew, but I don’t have the energy to check. My back hurts, my knees are sore, and I smell like cow. Which, weirdly, isn’t the worst thing anymore. I will grab a shower soon.

We found cattle today. Actual, real, living cows. In the woods.

Three of them — two big and one calf, all half-wild but not dangerous. They were…

The sun has set, and the quiet is settling into the walls — or as quiet as it ever gets with this many people under one roof. The fire in the hearth is down to glowing coals. Dinner’s been cleaned up. Most of us are asleep, and the rest are pretending to be. I should be too. But sleep feels like a fragile thing lately. Like if I let myself slip too deep, I might miss something vital.

We had our first full…

Definitely official, even if Sandwich will not admit it. He has an attachment for Thea. At the evening meal and campfire meeting I caught him dividing his plate in half and giving Thea the the half he separated. He then ate half of his portion and feed Kenny the other half. I plan to say something to him, I'll offer to feed Kenny half my food share if he insist on giving Thea half of his food share. I am amazed how he treats Thea, almost like our mother, or us girls. He also seems…

Reuben talked with Catalina when she had joined with him in helping the group. During the stops for the evening on the way to Hale's property Catalina filled him in on how the ranch and family were doing. Apparently their father was quick to realize the situation and started the process of fortifying the ranch, He had the hands bring the cattle in closer for the rest of the year and would decide in mid spring what to do about how to safely graze them. He and the hands also began working on the barb wire around the ranch.
Reuben…

Well found Sandwich, he deviated from his emergency escape route and hookup with a group of survivors. Not sure about the group but they appear to be decent folks. The leader, Hale Stratton, is very similar to Sandwich; dark, brooding and all military. I suspect there is more under the man other than being a Major in the Rangers. I cannot quite sure what it is yet; but never mind that. Sandwich has decided to continue travelling with the group, so I am tagging along as well. He states he will decide what to do…
